Forty years ago, the Teatro Colón offered Wagner's cycle under the 39-year-old Heinz Wallberg. Still known in Europe for his conducting in major houses, he has recorded no Wagner operas. On listening to this performance, one wonders why. If you attended The Ring at any major opera house in the early 1960's, you would have been likely to hear many of the principals on this recording.
